About SUN

During the pandemic, workers became increasingly fed up with employers of all kinds. That discontent has only grown. Workers are on the move, and we are among them. We are united in the belief that not only are unions the pathway to the jobs we deserve, but that unions should be led and operated by the workers ourselves. We aim to build unions with solidarity and deep community at their heart, where every worker is welcome to lead and participate, including and especially the most marginalized co-workers. We aim to build unions where co-worker direct action inside and across companies is favored over advocacy, lobbying, or public relations.

You won't see names and faces on this website because we are workers just like you. Our campaigns are not public. We will keep it that way until we're ready.

Several like-minded union campaigns - across a variety of industries, occupations, and geographies - have come together. The workers in these campaigns started a long series of conversations and joint training sessions, for we knew we would be stronger in collaboration. The Solidarity Union Network evolved from these discussions and training sessions and began to take root.

However, SUN is so much more than just our excellent trainings. We are a robust community of union-builders that grows by the day as existing SUN campaigns develop and new campaigns get off the ground. SUN is a true joint effort to design and build SUN unions in the industries where we work. SUN offers shared resources to help you avoid reinventing the wheel and building every system from scratch. We provide a platform for discussion and sharing to learn what's working in your union-building efforts and to fix what's not.

Our aim? Visionary unions through which we transform work and the world. To get there, we need effective and sustainable union-building to maximize the chance that we win what we need at work, in our industries, and in society as a whole. That's what SUN is all about.
